Overview of the Holvi Oceo technology
![]()
Holvi‘s Oceo is a superior ocean wave energy conversion technology. Its survivability and technology have already been proven in multiple full-scale, grid-connected ocean deployments.
Oceo’s patented twin-rotor technology enables high unit power up to 10 MW with a single power take-off (PTO). This high unit power output translates into economies of scale in both construction and operation. PTO efficiency has been increased, resulting to energy cost competitive to wind and solar.
The construction of the Oceo WEC is simplistic with only one moving, rotating, component enclosed inside the wave energy converter (WEC) hull, safe from the corrosive ocean climate. Power generation relies on wave-induced accelerations, eliminating vulnerable hull penetrations for moving mechanical components.
The efficient rotating power generator is directly connected to the rotator shaft. No intermediate steps, hydraulic system, or gears are required. This configuration results in an extremely high power take-off efficiency of 95%. Furthermore, the twin-rotator PTO is exceptionally sensitive to even the smallest waves, enabling power generation in virtually any weather condition.
The floating WEC is easily transported by towing. Installation using catenary moorings takes only a couple of days per unit, requiring no permanent foundations and minimizing environmental impact.
